Sound/Audio work is one area where the different can be relevant (line degradation, random noise pickup, etc). These days, USB3 is great and difference would be less important. Ports on the computer may not be all USB3 (of course). I haven't used a USB hub before and heard some things don't work well with them. :( wondering if a USB hub would be a good solution for sound or if I should use the hub for keyboard and mouse and move the external sound card straight to the PC. You're absolutely sure it's mini PCIe and not PCIe 1x?.Believe what may have been meant is "low profile PCIe card" (sometimes "half height PCIe card") versus "full height PCIe card". The board I'm buying is Behringer Xenyx 802 Premium 8-Input 2-Bus Mixer with Xenyx Mic Preamps.Īnd the sound card is Behringer UCA202 Audio Interface

I haven't used a USB hub before and heard some things don't work well with them.Īny thoughts on how to set this up for a good quality recording? I'm not professional musician, but quite good on the guitar and would like to record and play around with the sound. I unfortunately ran out of USB ports on my PC since there are only 4. I am purchasing a 4 input mixing board, a powered microphone, and a external sound card that will play from the mixing board into my PC via USB cable. I want to enhance my sound quality and recording experience. So far All i use is Audacity for editing and I use the on board sound card for my mic input. My current PC has 4GB of RAM 500GB Hard Drive, and a Intel Pentium J2900 2.41GHz. I am in the process of setting up a home studio to play around with at home.
